Somerfords' Home and School Association

Supporting a fantastic line up of school trips this term

There are some exciting school trips coming up for pupils at Somerfords’ Walter Powell over the next few weeks, and we’re pleased to be able to support them.

Reception and KS1 pupils will be heading to Bowood for a hands-on learning experience in the beautiful Walled Garden. During the “Searching for Sleeping Seeds” session, children will explore how plants grow, where seeds hide and how they travel. With opportunities to discover different textures, smells and environments, from the sensory garden to pollinating meadows, it’s a brilliant way to bring classroom learning to life.

We’re also supporting a special Year 6 SATs celebration trip to Ten Pin Bowling in Swindon. After all their hard work, it’s a chance for pupils to relax, have fun and celebrate together.

SHASA is helping to fund the transport for these trips, including coach and minibus costs, helping to make sure all children can take part.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support SHASA - it’s your fundraising that helps make opportunities like this possible.

Goals for Spring/Summer 2026

Our current fundraising priorities are to help cover coach travel for educational trips, provide headphones to complement the iPads previously funded by SHASA, and strengthen music provision through new percussion instruments and specialist music days.
